Dr. Darlene Eckert is a board-certified pediatrician who has cared for families in Orlando since 2004. She owned her own practice in Hunter’s Creek for eight years before joining the Tree House Pediatrics team in Lake Nona, where she practiced for more than seven years. Over the course of her career, she has been recognized repeatedly for her devotion to patients, earning the Vitals Patients’ Choice Award (2009–2017), the Real Heroes Don’t Wear Capes Award (twice), and multiple Orlando Health Network Outstanding Performance Awards.
Dr. Eckert’s dream of becoming a pediatrician began at age six, inspired by her uncle in Puerto Rico. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Binghamton, New York, she pursued an accelerated six-year BS/MD program, completing undergraduate work at Kent State University and medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She then fulfilled her lifelong goal by completing her pediatric internship and residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Eckert is known for treating every child as if they were her own, building warm and lasting relationships with families. She has special interests in asthma, allergies, eczema, ADHD and other behavioral concerns, anxiety, depression, obesity, and lifestyle medicine. She is passionate about supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of her patients and empowering families to live healthier lives.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Eckert enjoys an active life with her husband, Omar, and their four children. She loves the outdoors—hiking, rafting, fishing, and biking—and is a lifelong athlete who has played and coached both tennis and softball. Her family has even trained together in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Dr. Eckert is excited to bring her passion for “old-school,” personalized medicine to Zest Pediatrics of Hunter’s Creek, where she looks forward to caring for your family as part of hers.

One of our goals at Zest Pediatrics® is to make medical care as transparent as possible. This means no surprise medical bills. Unlike Insurance based medical care, our payment structure is simple. Based on the size of your family and ages of your children, your family is charged one monthly rate and that includes everything that our doctors do for you at the office. No co-pays for appointments or surprise charges for in office labs or forms. Just one straight-forward, simple monthly charge.
