    Rachel Dawkins, MD, FAAP

    Dr. Rachel Dawkins, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) who has been doling out “hugs and stickers” to children for nearly 20 years.  Born and raised in Pinellas County, she attended local public schools, graduating from the International Baccalaureate program at St. Petersburg High School.  She attended the University of Miami for undergraduate and medical school. During her time at UM, she was on the Hurricanette dance team, was selected to the Iron Arrow honor society and served as the first student member of the university’s Board of Trustees.  Dr. Rachel moved to New Orleans for her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University/Children’s Hospital of New Orleans where she stayed on as faculty.

    Dr. Rachel returned to St. Pete in 2014 to become the medical director of the outpatient pediatric clinic at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. During her 12-year tenure, she was often called on to conduct interviews with local and national media on topics as diverse as vaccines, school physicals, infant formula, and seasonal allergies.  She has been involved with the AAP on a national level since residency and continues to hold leadership roles in the organization. Locally, she is on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Tampa Bay and the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg.

    Throughout her career, Dr. Rachel has stressed advocacy for children’s health. She is passionate about preventative, whole-family care. She is a certified sleep consultant as well as a certified lactation counselor. 

    Fun facts about Dr. Rachel:  She is an 8th generation Floridian, the entertaining aunt to two tween boys, and a devoted mom to her rescue shih tzu mix, Tuck.  She is an avid sports fan, especially rooting for Miami Hurricanes football, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Rowdies.  She still loves everything New Orleans and returns annually to ride on a Mardi Gras parade float.  She enjoys sunsets at the beach and traveling worldwide.

Accepted payment methods: ACH (bank transfer), debit card, HSA/FSA card (as allowed by plan), and credit card (processing fees applied).

One of our goals at Zest Pediatrics® is to make medical care as transparent as possible. This means no surprise medical bills. Unlike Insurance based medical care, our payment structure is simple. Based on the size of your family and ages of your children, your family is charged one monthly rate and that includes everything that our doctors do for you at the office. No co-pays for appointments or surprise charges for in office labs or forms. Just one straight-forward, simple monthly charge.
